yep, i've left the hose runnning overnight before so the ground is flooded, i've had pipes burst and on my old pond where i had a slate waterfall the slate moved (probably by a cat or fox) then diverted the water away from my pond into the soil hence draining the pond!!
I have yet to fall in one of my ponds though.... thats just put the mockers on it eh!

Yo
I left the hose pipe running to top up the pond and then went out. it flooded next doors garden.
Then when building my latest pond, whilst carrying the large decking lid for the filters, i slipped off the walls and ended in the bottom of the filter bay with the lid on top of me. Thought a stay in hospital was needed, but climbed out with just a few large bruises, a bit of blood loss, and some skin missing
Had to sit down and have a medicinal Pedi after that !

Whilst trying to Maintain 4C outside Last Winter prior to bringing the Koi Indoors

I switched the wrong pump on to take some Water out at 11,500 lph on a 1,000 gal Pool :faint:

When I came back from re-heating the Tank containing the HX Coils the Koi were in too little water to cover their Dorsals

Frequently my QT Trickle out lines are left in accidentally after the Trickle in has been turned off :o fortunately this can never remove more than Half the Water in any 24 hr period ... I have awoken several times though to Half a Tank

I decided to fit an air dome to my b drain ... Advice to any one building a pond: Fit one at the outset!!!
Water was b freezing but managed to get the old dome off with no problems. I had come up with an ingenious idea of breaking into the 4" pipe work between pond and filter at a rubber boot elbow. Replacing this with a T connector would allow the air line to run to the air dome un seen. To avoid losing much water I dived down and put a ball into the end of pipe in the b drain, dropping the water level in the filter would hold the ball in place so blocking the flow.
TIP: The ball needs to be big enough to withstand the pressure of the water it's holding back. Needless to say, the ball disappeared and I couldn't get any flow to the filters at all.
I had visions of having to dig up the pond base to free the obstruction but was extremely lucky in that it had stuck in the rubber boot elbow. I still lost loads of water, have any of you tried to hold back water flow and refit anything to an open 4" pipe 2 feet below water level? My son thought it was funny anyway!

I have overfilled the pond and QT to many times to count  and i have also left the waste valve open on the tank when cleaning...then the phone goes and the wife wants something (yes here comes the excuses) and on return find thew fish on the bottom of the tank in a very small amount of water

The joys of Koi keeping

Did the final filter flush and topped up pond before going to gatwick night before jetting off to sunny Barbados 8-)

Got a call from the neighbour while at Gatwick that evening, he couldnt see any air bubbles in the pond so came in to check, dressed in his Friday night clobber, ready to hit the town.

First thing hit him was the water scarecrow which totoally soaked him as I'd forgotten to tell him how to turn it off  He then lifted the decking which covers the filter bay, 4ft deep, to see if the electrics had tripped. He found the filter bay near enough full of water.....yes, I had left it toppng up! All of the electrics had triped out in the garage so he had to reset em, bucket out all of the water cause he couldnt get the sump pump to work then checked that all was up and running again. all the time he was doing this, he still didnt know how to turn off the scarecrow so was getting more and more soaked.

Totally ruined his Friday night out so had to spoil him when got home. He laughs now but I know he was really p'd off at the time.

Glen

Where do I start;

Fallen head first into the sump pit whilst cleaning it out, forgot to close the ball valves when flushing, forgot to turn the pumps on after cleaning the filters, forgot to turn the sump pump on, drowned a couple of pinpoint meters, Locked Diane in the pond shed (only for a couple of hours)..

You really want me to go on..

Dave

Hello All
I had a pool up a couple of years ago with approx 30 assorted rescue fish in ..
i had one of the cheap and cheerfull oasis 6500 pumps with the bendy outlet feeding the filter ..
when i got home from work the bendy bit had come off ..all the fish laid in 3 inches of water ..
no sign of the 7/800 gallons anywhere nothing wet ..god did i freak out ..
but didnt lose a one ..and threw the pump in the bin LOL
